Day 3 Tuesday 18th AprilNation's Capital AnkaraAfter breakfast, we drive to the nation's capital, Ankara, visiting the Ancient Civilization's Museum and the Mausoleum of Turkey's first President, Ataturk. With Ankara behind us, we head for the surreal moonscape of Cappadocia. Overnight Cappadocia. Breakfast and dinner. Day 4 Wednesday 19th AprilCappadocia, Goreme, Uchisar castle, Underground cityToday we tour the Goreme open-air museum, Derinkuyu underground city, Pasabag and Uchisar castle. Photo opportunities are everywhere so have your cameras ready! Tonight, don't miss the optional Turkish folklore evening featuring folklore and belly dancers… a night you won't forget! Overnight Cappadocia. Breakfast. Day 5 Thursday 20th AprilCaravansary, KonyaLeaving Cappadocia we head south along an ancient silk trail for the stunning Mediterranean Coast. We stop at the Caravansary at Sultanhani and Turkey's religious Capital, Konya, where we visit the Mevlana Whirling Dervish Museum. Overnight Pamukkale. Breakfast and dinner. Day 6 Friday 21st AprilPamukkale, HierapolisTour the magnificent white calcium terraces of Pamukkale, followed by the ancient city of Hierapolis. Take a dip in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapuetic powers. Overnight Kusadasi. Breakfast and dinner. Day 7 Saturday 22nd AprilKusadasi, EphesusStand in awe at the Roman technology once used on a tour of the ruined ancient city of Ephesus. Turkey produces some of the finest leather goods in the world and after Ephesus we go to a leather goods display. We also visit a carpet village and learn how carpets are made by hand, what determines their value and the historical and cultural context in which this folk art has blossomed. Overnight Kusadasi. Day 8 Sunday 23rd AprilAcropolis of PergamumToday we travel towards the WWI battlefields of Gallipoli, stopping along the way for a tour of the magnificent acropolis of ancient Pergamum. Overnight Kucukkuyu. Breakfast and dinner. Day 9 Monday 24th AprilTroy, Gallipoli battlefields tourEarly morning tour of Troy, the ancient site of the famed Trojan Wars. After Troy, we tour the serene site of the WWI battlefields of Gallipoli. Visit Lone Pine Australian Memorial and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, ANZAC Cove, Johnston's Jolly and the Kaba Tepe Gallipoli Museum. Straight after the tour we head for the site of the dawn service to get a good spot. Tonight, soak up the vibrant atmosphere under the stars waiting for the break of dawn. Overnight at Dawn Service. Breakfast and dinner box. Day 10 Tuesday 25th AprilANZAC Day at GallipoliAwake before sun rise to the ANZAC Dawn Service. You become aware of the almost deafening silence as we commemorate our fallen forefathers on this special day. Also attend the Australian &/or New Zealand Memorial services before driving back to Istanbul with powerful memories of commemorating ANZAC Day at Gallipoli. Overnight Istanbul. Breakfast/lunch box.
