17 Day itinerary
Fez Travel want to welcome you to the 2006 Turkish Formula One Grand Prix in the most fabulous settings of Istanbul. The new 5.3 Km curcuit which has been designed by Herman Tilke is reckoned to be one of the most challenging tracks of the 2005 season with some 6 right hand turns and 8 left hand turns and a mixture of gradients, the main grandstand has a capacity of 30,000 people.
No other city in the world covers two continents and can offer you such a race.
Day 1 - Thursday 24 August - Welcome to IstanbulWelcome to Istanbul. You will be met at the Ataturk Airport and transferred to your hotel which is located in the heart of Sultanahmet, the old city. Overnight Istanbul 4*.
Day 2 - Friday 25 August - F1 practice sessionsAfter breakfast today we head to the track to get to the track for practice at 11:00. You will have your first chance to see the racetrack and cars and watch the two practice sessions held this day. Overnight Istanbul 4*.
Day 3 - Saturday 26 August - F1 practice and qualifying sessionsAfter breakfast today we head to the track to get to the track for practice at 11:00. You will have the chance to see the cars getting ready for the big day and watch practice and later the qualifying laps. Overnight Istanbul 4*.
Day 4 - Sunday 27 August - Istanbul F1 Grand PrixAfter breakfast today we head to the circuit to take your place at the track to watch the Istanbul Formula 1 Grand Prix. Overnight Istanbul 4*.
Day 5 - Monday 28 August - Gallipoli battlefieldsOne of the most emotionally touching places in Turkey, today we visit the WWI Battlefields of Gallipoli including Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair Memorials, ANZAC Cove, the Nek, Johnstonís Jolly and the Kaba Tepe Gallipoli Museum. Overnight Guzelyali 4*. Lunch and dinner.
Day 6 - Tuesday 29 August - Troy, Acropolis of PergamumThis morning, step back in time as we visit Troy, home of the famed Trojan Horse. Then we tour the magnificent acropolis of Pergamum. Its impressive temples, library and medical facilities made Pergamum a renowned cultural and political centre in its time. An afternoon leather goods display follows. Overnight Kusadasi 4*. Dinner.
Day 7 - Wednesday 30 August - Ephesus, KusadasiAbsorb yourself in history today with a guided tour of Ephesus. Feel the mystical atmosphere of the city and stadium where chariot and horse races were once held. Carpet weaving has long traditions in Turkey. At the carpet village we learn how the carpets are made by hand and what determines their value. Overnight Kusadasi 4*. Dinner.
Day 8 - Thursday 31 August - Pamukkale, HierapolisTour the magnificent white calcium formations of Pamukkale, followed by the ancient city of Hierapolis. Take a dip in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapeutic powers. Overnight Pamukkale 4*. Dinner.
Day 9 - Friday 1 September - Saklikent Gorge, FethiyeLeaving Pamukkale, today we visit a carpet village and learn how Turkish carpets are made by hand, what determines their value and the historical and cultural context in which this folk art has blossomed. Afterwards we visit Saklikent Gorge, the longest and deepest canyon in Turkey. Walk through icy water and battle numerous small waterfalls set in sculpted limestone canyon walls. Take a tube ride down the rapids or relax on the platforms. Overnight Fethiye 4*.
Day 10 - Saturday 2 September - Fethiye boat cruiseA lazy day boat cruise leaving from Fethiye to the 12 Islands. Board the boat for a day you wonít forget. Lunch is served on the boat along the way. In the afternoon sail back to Fethiye. Overnight Fethiye 4*. Lunch.
Day 11 - Sunday 3 September - FethiyeToday you have a free day to do whatever you choose. Paraglide, swim, recover, relax or take a diving tour. Overnight Fethiye 4*.
Day 12 - Monday 4 September - Myra, Phaselis, AntalyaStart the day with a panoramic view following the Mediterranean coast. This is a chill out day. We will visit ancient Myra, which is the hometown of St. Nicholas (Father Christmas). Phaselis is our next stop, a beautiful ancient harbour city where you also have the chance to take a dip in the sea. Overnight Antalya 3*.
Day 13 - Tuesday 5 September - Aspendos, Tinaztepe CaveBegin today with a tour of the ancient ruins of Aspendos, which is known for one of the best preserved theatres of Asia Minor, this impressive theatre is still used today. We then visit and enjoy the natural beauty of the Tinaztepe sink hole and cave. Overnight Konya 4*. Dinner.
Day 14 - Wednesday 6 September - Konya, Caravanseray, Underground cityToday we visit the Mevlana Museum. The Mevlevi order of whirling dervishes is a mystic group whose members are followers of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi - a great Turkish poet and mystic, the brotherhood is based in Konya where its founder is buried. En-route, we stop at an ancient Silk Road Caravanseray, before we trek through the wildly beautiful Ihlara Valley and explore Derinkuyu Underground City. Tonight, donít miss the optional traditional Turkish folklore evening! Overnight Cappadocia 4*.
Day 15 - Thursday 7 September - Cappadocia, Goreme, Uchisar castleMarvel at the lunar landscape of Cappadocia with a fully guided tour of Goreme Valley, the fairy chimneys, Uchisar castle and more. Overnight Cappadocia 4*. Dinner.
Day 16 - Friday 8 September - Nationís Capital AnkaraToday we visit the nationís capital, Ankara, with a tour of the Ancient Civilisation Museum. Overnight Istanbul 4*. (Optional flight to Istanbul)
Day 17 - Saturday 9 September - IstanbulAfter breakfast our tour concludes and we say goodbye to our new friends.
